To compete for the title Top shed, a player must gain the most route mileage and retain a maximum number of locos (playing pieces). Choose how long to play beforehand. At the end of the game, tally mileage dockets and value each loco as worth 1,000 miles.
There are many hazards to thwart players. Some can be avoided by careful observation of the road ahead but others are purely chance.

The rules book includes additional interesting information;
- descriptive terms used by railwaymen
- notes of interest on GWR (Great Western Railway), LMSR (London, Midland & Scottish Railway), LNER London & North East Railway) and SR (Southern Railway)

A rare game. Dobenco produced Bushwhakkers in a similarly shaped box.
