A very simple game to play even if you’ve never bet on a horse before. Look at the race card, bet on the horses then listen to the record. If you've had a winning bet, you collect. If you've backed a loser, hard luck! There are 8 horses to choose from and the odds / starting prices for the horses are randomly selected by picking an odds card from the pack of 8 available. The records have been specially cut to randomly select any one of the eight outcomes of each race when the stylus is placed at the beginning of the record. There is no way of knowing which track the stylus will select and each track leads to a different result.

There are slips for win, place and dual forecast bets. As with the real thing;

- win is for the winning horse only
- place is for a horse to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd
- dual forecast is for the two horses to come 1st and 2nd in either order.

The 2 races on each of the two records have racing commentary by Noel Whitcomb, a professional race commentator in the 1970s. An entertaining race game using vinyl records in an innovative way.
This game should not be confused with And they're off which is a horseracing game based on cards devised in the early 1990s.
