This is a race between rival pioneering railway companies to lay a track and run the first train from Junction City to Buffalo Creek. The game uses scale model track which is built and laid along the game board. Model trains then run on the track. If only two people play, each player can control one or two trains. The game board has 4 separate track routes running from Junction City to Buffalo Creek across the board from right to left. Although the four tracks take different routes, they are all the same length and hazards occur in exactly the same relative positions. Players choose between extending their tracks or running their trains along them. A player who has a long stretch of track in front of their train is vulnerable to attack. However, a player who moves their train when they has insufficient track laid will be de-railed.

As stated on the box base, “All the thrills of the romantic West - smoke signals, Indian ambushes, outlaws, train robbers, floods and landslides! And all the time, a struggle to delay your opponents by placing dynamite on their tracks.
The game was produced in a large shallow box, which by its nature can be easily damaged and contents misplaced. It is partly for this reason that the game itself is now rare and very difficult to find in good complete condition. A really clever yet fun and simple game which looks stunning.
