| Game play 1. Players take turns to be the code maker who places 4 shape counters in the squares and 4 colour counters in the round areas behind the shield. Each attempt by the code breaker is left in position throughout the game. The code maker replies by placing black, white, blue or no key pegs alongside the attempt. Four black key pegs placed means the code has been correctly determined. The winner is the player who uses the least decoding lines. Small pegs placed on score tracks on the right side of the board keep score. Players agree beforehand the number of games or target score and time limit per row. Game play 2 for advanced Grand Master play. The code maker may use blank spaces, hence there are 6 possible options per space allowing 1,679,616 permutations. Game play 1 provides 390,625 permutations. Awarded Game of the Year in the 70s. |
