The Indians win by eliminating Custer and his officers and taking his flag. General Custer wins if the 3 Indian Chiefs are eliminated or if the flag reaches either of the blue arrow squares. Based on the famed 1876 battle between General Custer and the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians. Now you can replay this historic battle.

All the models are hand painted. Two types of playing board, rigid board or flexible card, were produced, both folding into 3. The instructions were either printed on the inner packaging or supplied as a separate booklet.* The variations are shown in the gallery pictures.

Background to Custer's last stand. Sioux and Cheyenne Indians were increasingly hostile to prospectors pouring across North and South Dakota. Chief Sitting Bull gathered a force, by the Little Big Horn River, just north of the Montana : Wyoming border. 3 columns of US Cavalry were dispatched to subdue the Indians.

The main force stopped short of the Indian camp. Custer was sent ahead to make contact but to await support before attacking. However, nearing the Little Big Horn, Custer decided to attack at once. He wasn’t aware that Sitting Bull had assembled an unusually large force of 4,000 braves. Custer divided his men, and with the main force, rode straight for the centre of the Indian Camp. He was quickly surrounded. Heavily outnumbered, Custer fought his way back, but the odds were too great and his force was destroyed.
